A Study of Apotropaic (evil averting) marks in timber framed buildings.
Reaearcher: Barbara Jackson
The study of apotropaic marks is a relatively new area of study which is just beginning in the North West. These marks can be of four types:- daisy wheels, Marion marks, which look like two Vs or an upside down M, a lightly scratched design based on the Saltire or flame shaped burn marks which appear to be 'accidental'.
